Ministry at Foothill is definitely a team effort. Led by Chairman Brian Smith and Pastor Hans-Erik, there are many hands rowing this boat -- all with unique talents and gifts being put to use for the work God has set before us. Here is a growing list of the people you will meet in Leadership:
Hans-Erik has served as Senior Pastor at Foothill Covenant since October 2011. He is a passionate preacher of the Gospel and it is his joy to bring the scriptures to life as a communicator. As well, it is Hans-Erik’s goal to help people by being a compassionate presence through the varying seasons of life.
A native of Tuscon, Arizona, Hans-Erik’s first foray into life in Silicon Valley came by way of IBM where he worked on satellite control software. But a sense of calling to vocational ministry was irresistible and it led him first to Luther Seminary in Minnesota and subsequently to pastoral ministry in the Evangelical Covenant Church in Minnesota, Iowa and most recently Scotts Valley, CA.
Hans-Erik and his wife Krista were married in 2005 and they have three children: George, Kaia, and Asher. Life is good for the Nelsons when they are hanging out at Happy Hollow or feasting at Sweet Tomatoes. Hans-Erik enjoys carpentry and beekeeping as hobbies - rumor has it his Santa Cruz Wildflower Honey blend is not to be missed.

Pastor Victoria is our full-time staff member dedicated to children and youth ministry. A graduate of North Park Theological Seminary, she specialized in children's ministry and programming. She joined Foothill in the Fall of 2016 after 10 years of children's ministry in other settings, most recently North Brook Covenant Church in Illinois. Victoria loves our kids and our kids love her!
Barbara has been Church Accompanist at Foothill since 1996. After graduating from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, she was organist for 26 years at First Covenant Church in San Jose. She enjoys serving the Lord by playing keyboard with the various Worship Bands and creating music on keyboard, piano and organ.
Sunday morning highlights include children’s story time and congregational sharing of prayer requests and praises. She volunteers daily in Global Media Outreach’s International Internet ministry.
A piano teacher, she loves giving her grandchildren lessons and teaching them about the Lord.
