Racial Justice Team

After the murder of George Floyd in 2020, the church called together a prayer meeting to process what we were seeing, feeling, and thinking and to ask God for guidance.  Out of that prayer meeting the Racial Justice Team was formed.

The Team met weekly at first, and then eventually settled on monthly meetings.  The Team resources the wider congregation with educational materials and events.  Past events have included a trip to Angel Island to learn about the Chinese Exclusion Act and Asian immigration to the west coast, movie nights, sermon series, and an annual 6-week book study in February where the entire congregation reads through a book together and discusses in small groups.  2022 saw us reading Many Colors by Soong Chan Rah, in 2023 we read Color-Courageous Discipleship by Michelle T. Sanchez, and in 2024 we feature Prophetic Lament by Soong Chan Rah.
