What We Believe

Secondary Title

Welcome to Foothill Covenant Church! We are a small but diverse congregation who look to the bible for how to walk daily with God and yearn for compassion, mercy and justice. We value other’s opinions and interpretations of scripture. Through respectful discussion rather than debate, and a focus on listening to God’s Spirit, we can more fully understand the true meaning of scripture.

A note on the aftermath of the Covid-19 Pandemic and the current state of affairs in the larger Christian church in North America

These basic teachings have been preached from our pulpit in the last year:

  • We have confidence in the safety and effectiveness of Covid-19 vaccines to end the pandemic
  • We do not support the spread of conspiracy theories, they are a violation of the commandment not to bear false witness against a neighbor
  • We repudiate Christian nationalism as a sin and idolatry of the state over the lordship of Jesus
  • White supremacy is a sin
  • We are committed to creating a more just society in our city, state, nation, and world

So... What is a 'Covenant church'?

Secondary Title

We are proud to be a member congregation of the Evangelical Covenant Church, a multi-ethnic protestant family of believers who profess a deep love for scripture, a desire to spread the Gospel, and a yearning for compassion, mercy and justice.  This video explores the denomination's commitment to scripture.

Several Covenant pastors discuss the importance of the Covenant Affirmation: The Centrality of the Word of God in the context of their lives and the lives of their local churches.

Beliefs... Churches have 'em.   So do we.

We believe God loves us as he has shown us through his Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead so that he can freely give forgiveness of sin and eternal life to those who believe in him. His Holy Spirit is active in our world today.

Through the Bible, God helps each one of us to know and experience how he wants us to live with him and with each other. The Bible is our trustworthy authority on what to believe and how to walk daily with God.

Loving freedom guides us in living out our firm faith. People in our congregation are from many different backgrounds and appreciate the richness of our diversity in Christ.

Because we are followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, we are one in him. We welcome into our church family all who confess Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, as well as all who are seeking him.
